- How to make matcha
Meet your new evening habit. Slow-roasted Japanese green tea, stone-milled into a fine powder that whisks up into the coziest latte you'll make all week - toasty, nutty, faintly chocolatey, and almost no caffeine. Matcha's warm, laid-back cousin. The one you can drink at 9pm and still sleep like a baby.
Origin: Shizuoka, Japan
Roast: Medium: smooth and rounded
Tasting Notes: Toasted chestnut · Warm cocoa · Roasted nuttiness with a sweet finish
Why you'll love it:
Barely any caffeine. Up to ~20mg a serving vs. matcha or coffee — a gentle lift, not a jittery one. Morning, afternoon, or curled-up-at-midnight.
Naturally sweet. Deep roasted-chestnut and cocoa notes mean it's cozy on its own. No bitterness, no fixing required.
Prepared the same way as matcha. Hot or iced, whisk and go. Weeknight ritual, unlocked.
Prepare 2g (about 1 tsp) with 70 ml of hot water at 65-80º C. Whisk and enjoy hot or cold with your favourite milk.
Store matcha away from direct sunlight and heat, will help preserve its vibrant green colour and flavour. Fridge is best! Be sure to close the container tightly after each use to prevent the entry of moisture and oxygen.
